Plot[]
Bal Masqué[]
While at the bal masqué, Catherine encountered Vanitas, who conducted parlor tricks to give her a flower and her younger sister sweets. Immediately after Vanitas announced himself to be a human doctor intent on enacting his revenge against Vanitas of the Blue Moon by saving vampires from Vanitas of the Blue Moon's curse, Charlatan attacked the party. Several vampires became curse-bearers during the attack, among them Catherine. A victim of the curse, Catherine killed several vampires, including her mother, and pleaded with Vanitas to kill her before she could kill her sister as well. Seeing this, Vanitas noted that her body had become too corroded for restoration and used the Book of Vanitas to disintegrate and kill her.
