Flute (フルート, Furūto) is a cat in Jun Mochizuki's The Case Study of Vanitas. She is the pet cat of Hôtel Chouchou.[1]
Appearance[]
Flute is a small cat with entirely black fur, and big round blue eyes. She is seen with a blue bow around her neck, or a collar with a small bell.
Personality[]
Flute seems to be a quiet and shy cat. As the hotel's pet, she is sociable enough and doesn't seem to be afraid of humans or other cats. She gets along well with Murr, although she doesn't seem very interested in finding a mate.

Trivia[]
- Flute is based on the mascot of the real-world counterpart of Hôtel Chouchou. The original cat's name is Clarinette, and Mochizuki changed it to Flute, keeping the wind instrument theme, as a homage.[2]
- When Mochizuki stayed at the hotel in 2016, she left a message in the guest book, saying she already planned on drawing her with Murr.[2]
- Mochizuki drew Flute as a human for the Volume 8 omake. She appeared as a young girl with short straight black hair, a black dress, and a small bow on her head.[3]
