Jeanne asks Vanitas for help
Vanitas tells Jeanne that there is still a chance to save Chloé and that she haven't killed anyone and was framed to be the Beast. Vanitas asks Jeanne once again if its her wish to kill Chloé. Jeanne explains she mustn't wish or pray for anything, or someone else will die for her, possibly even Vanitas. He then laughs, stating that he won't die before her as he promised to kill her if she ever lost control. He admits he loves her and will grant her wish, whatever it is. Jeanne then cries asking for help, for her and for Chloé. Vanitas ruffles her hair with a smile and promises: “D’accord!”Jeanne is left with tears spilling down her face as she stares at him in awe.
Noé goes to check on Jean-Jacques, but Vanitas comes annoyed and blaming Noé for making him make a doubtful promises. Vanitas then starts slapping Jean-Jacques to wake him up. And as he wakes up, Vanitas tells him that Chloé's vengeance failed and he needs his book in order to save her.
Astolfo becomes friend with a vampire
Astolfo lies defeated. He recalls his young days, when his father gives him a knife and tells him that their ancestors fought vampires and if time comes they show up again, he must fight them too. Later his mother comforts him as Astolfo couldn't learn to fight due to being afraid to hurt someone and tells him to never forget his kindness. One day, he encounters a boy vampire while he was with his sister. His sister notices that the vampire is hurt and Astolfo decides to help him, and the vampire thanks him after that. Astolfo and his sister each day start heading out in the woods to meet their new vampire friend, who loves hearing about Astolfo's life and family. Astolfo starts to believe that the vampires are not all bad and they can be friends. However, one day, the vampire boy brings more vampires and they easily kill everyone from Astolfo's family and house, thanks to Astolfo's information. The vampire reveals that his family was killed by Chasseurs' paladins and wonders how Astolfo feels now. Astolfo then wakes up and sees Noé. Angry at the vampires, he injects himself and prepares for fight.
Chloé attacks Vanitas
Dante and Johann arrive, but seeing all the mess, they wonder if they should be taking the device with them. Vanitas asks them to get his book from the second floor, sixth shelf, otherwise they won't be able to leave Chloé's world. Vanitas then wishes to activate the Alteration Engine and do the same Chloé did, to stabilize Chloé's body, who started to merge with her world. He asks Jean-Jacques to start the machine, but as he tries, it seems it isn't working. Vanitas wonders if the core is made from astermite and Jean-Jacques confirms, but states Chloé said it was special kind called divine tearstone. Vanitas then recalls the stone on his book and how he asked his master about it, who explained it was divine tearstone. Vanitas then takes off his gloves and activates the device's core with his hands. Chloé then attacks them and Jeanne starts fighting her. Vanitas states that Chloé likely intended to die after fulfilling her vengeance. Noé wants Jean-Jacques to talk with Chloé, but Astolfo slashes Jean-Jacques from behind and then engages Noé in a fight.
Outside, Olivier and Roland keep fighting the monster wolves, but they keep on regenerating. Olivier states they won't be able to hold for much longer and if Noé and Vanitas aren't done soon, Roland will need to act. Vanitas activates the device. Noé takes out Astolfo outside, where they fight, but notices Astolfo had become faster. As they fight, Astolfo recalls the boy vampire and gets angrier, stating all vampires should die and shouldn't have been born in the first place.
Jean-Jacques begging Chloé to not die
Jean-Jacques recalls some of his conversations with Chloé and realizes she never spoke of her own future as if she didn't had one. He then notices the defeated automatons and recalls the time he asked Chloé why she armed the automated instruments and even named them after members of the d'Apchier family. He then realizes that she intended to use the automatons to kill herself. As the device fully activates and gives Chloé's a physical form, Dante and Johann finally manage to find Vanitas' book and throw it at him. Chloé states she needs to destroy this world and free Jean-Jacques, but he wonders what's the point in being free without her. As he keeps talking to her and begs her to stay with him, Chloé turns to normal. Vanitas then comes and activates his book.
