Lars (ラース, Rāsu) is a character from Jun Mochizuki's Pandora Hearts. He is the Chain that is Contracted to Dug. As one of the Baskerville Clan's Chains, Lars can exert far more potent a power through his bond with Dug and thus is more powerful than regular Chains, their Contract having been active since before the Tragedy of Sablier one hundred years ago. Like his Contractor, Lars is dedicated to finding their master Glen Baskerville and restoring the power they had lost to the Four Great Dukedoms and Pandora. However Lars very rarely comes out to participate in combat, never actually appearing in the main story despite clearly existing.
Description[]
Not much is known about how Lars was meant to look apart from that he was meant to resemble a pig.
History[]
Prior to the Tragedy of Sablier, Dug was accepted by the Droplets of Light and guided to Sablier, where he was inducted into the Baskerville Clan around the same time as Fang and Lottie. Soon after his induction, Dug sought out a Chain through Jabberwock's Door to the Abyss to act both as an partner in battle as well as a lifelong companion, ultimately finding Lars and forming a Baskerville Contract with him. Though Lars would rarely be called upon, he would remain by Dug's side for more than 100 years.
Powers and Abilities[]
None of Lars' powers and abilities are known as of yet. Given Dug's reluctance to call upon Lars in battle, it is likely that Lars isn't a combative Chain, perhaps even lacking the power to battle all together.
Trivia[]
- Lars was inspired by the Raths mentioned in the poem Jabberwocky from Through The Looking Glass and What Alice Found There, being a type of green pig described as being "mome"; which Humpty Dumpty believed was meant to be short for "home", meaning that they had lost thier way.
- Although Lars never appeared in Pandora Hearts, he was mentioned by Jun Mochizuki in Pandora Hearts 24 + 1: Last Dance, where she cited him as Dug's Chain and admitted to regretting not including Lars.
