Summary[]
Noé excited about Tarte Tatin
Visiting a restaurant, Noé gets served Tarte Tatin dessert and gets him excited with Dominique stating its his favorite dessert. Noé reveals that The Teacher often brought him Tarte Tatin as a gift when returning from his trips to the human world and can't believe he could have it in Altus Paris. Luca explains that a vampire who liked it like Noé had brought the recipe back from the human world, making Dominique believe that's her uncle. Luca and Jeanne thank Noé for helping save the vampires during the ball. Noé explains its all thanks to Vanitas' power, which annoys Luca, who knows that but before he thanks him, he wishes for Vanitas to apologize for forcing himself on Jeanne and kissing her. Vanitas asks to who he must apologize and as Luca states its to Jeanne, Vanitas states there is no need as the two of them are in love, however Jeanne quickly denies it. Vanitas then reveals his neck and Jeanne's mark, stating that the mark is created when vampires imbue the victim of their bloodlust with some of their power. Jeanne quickly denies it, stating she doesn't remember such thing, but Vanitas states she should at least recognize her own mark, but as she was quiet rough, its no surprise her memory is spotty. Vanitas wonders if his blood was so delicious that she sucked that much, causing Jeanne to turn red. Luca then questions her if this is the type of man she likes as she claimed him. Vanitas starts to laugh and explains that its indeed Jeanne's mark, but she didn't mean to leave it. As she heard the curse-bearer's voices, she lost control and attacked him. Hearing that, Luca gets happy, thinking there is no way she purposely left a mark on such a rude and selfish man. Panicking, Jeanne takes Vanitas and runs away and Noé decides to follow them.
Jeanne accepts Vanitas conditions
Outside, Jeanne asks Vanitas why did he lie. Vanitas wonders if he should have told the truth, but he got the impression she didn't wanted Luca to know that she got the urge to suck blood. Vanitas then asks her again if she is a curse-bearer, but Jeanne doesn't answer. Jeanne explains that she can suppress her thirst with her medicine, but the effect wore off quickly that day. She begs him to not tell anyone about this. Vanitas laughs and tells her he won't spill the secrets of the woman he loves, but have two conditions. She must not suck the blood of anyone but him as he felt sucking his blood was divine experience and is ready to give her blood anytime. For the second condition, he wants Jeanne to call him by his name and not by "human". As she accepts, she bites his neck to suck blood.
Dominique biting Noé
Later, when Jeanne and Vanitas return, Dominique sees Noé and asks him why he looks like he would cry. Noé shares that after hearing that Jeanne sucked Vanitas' blood, he got an agonizing feeling in his chest. As he thought about it, he realized he was so vexed that Jeanne got to him first. He always found that Vanitas' blood smells good and if he knew this would happen, he would have tasted it first. As Jeanne marked it just for herself, she wonders how delicious his blood could be. Annoyed, Dominique then bites his neck and sucks his blood. Noé then bites her hand, sucking some blood and stating that her blood is delectable.
Dominique and Jeanne dancing
That evening a ball starts. Looking at the dancing vampires, Noé realizes that Jeanne wishes to dance. As he is about to ask her out, Dominique comes and takes Jeanne for a dance. Jeanne explains that if she is seen dancing with a bourreau, it will harm her good name, however, Dominique still proceeds. Noé wonders if Vanitas will dance with Jeanne, but Vanitas explains he isn't good dancer and could step on her foot. Noé then offers to teach him dancing and Vanitas agrees. As they dance, Noé asks Vanitas what is love, which causes Vanitas to burst laughing, knowing that Noé had something in mind when he offered him to dance. Vanitas then states he doesn't know, but when he is near Jeanne, his heart quickens and he can't stop trembling. Noé asks what Vanitas likes about Jeanne and Vanitas explains that she is strong, beautiful, awkward and delicate, and it doesn't seem she will ever love him. Noé is surprised as he though that anyone wishes the one he loves to loves him back. Vanitas explains he isn't interested in a person who would love him. As Noé states he has much more to learn, he steps on Vanitas's foot, annoying the latter.
Dominique is surprised that Noé wishes to meet with August Ruthven, even though he knows nothing about him. Noé states he knows he is member of the Senate. Dominique states he is more than that and explains that he is peacemaker and helped end the war between vampires and humans, and many praise him as a hero. Dominique then guesses he doesn't know anything about Luca either, but decides to not tell him as Luca likely wish to tell him himself. Dominique wonders if she should go with him, but Noé tells her he couldn't as she got an urgent summon from the House of de Sade. Dominique had good intentions when she brought him to Altus Paris, but she ended up dragging him in a mess. Noé tells her he is happy that she always shows concern about him.
