The central character is the Intention of the Abyss, kneeling on her knees in center-frame. The skirt of her dress billows out around her and casts under her feet a deep red shadow, which ripples out from where she kneels as if the surface a pool of water. The Intention is sobbing in pain, right hand grasping at her right eye and her left hand curled up at her side. Shadows of thick black chains crisscross in front of her, blocking her off from the front. In the background behind her is the black-and-white silhouette of a wide and intricately decorated chair; the same kind that appear in the "place where their hearts intersect" that she shares with Alice, as seen in Retrace LXXVI: Alice&Oz. The right side of the chair is disintegrating into ash, which floats away in the wind.

The Intention of the Abyss sits on a white wide-seated chair with intricate decorations and a pair of flower vases set on either side. It is the same chair as the one that appears in the "space where their souls connect" that she shares with Alice as seen in Retrace LXXVI: Alice&Oz. The Intention is wearing a simple frilled white dress, and her hands are clasped in her lap, fingers anxiously curled in the fabric of her skirt. Her head is turned to the right and her expression is forlorn as she looks at something out of sight. At her feet which are bare, two white ribbons trail down on the floor below.

The central character is Gilbert, standing in center-frame and bathed in red light. He is turned slightly to the right, and his right hand is clutching at his left arm while his expression is serious and determined. The left sleeve of his coat is fluttering in the air as if empty, and the entire left side of his body is bathed in a brightly saturated red, almost akin to a fire. Splatters of red like blood surround him on all side.
Special Edition Cover[]
The Special Edition front cover features Oz Vessalius, in a close up profile of his face. His expression is playful and he is sticking out his tongue as he stares directly forward into the camera. His left hand is up and clutching a black rabbit doll to his chest, while rising up behind his right shoulder is the handle of his scythe.
The back cover also features Oz Vessalius in chibi form, including various scenes of him interacting with a variety of things. These include: Oz smirking mischievously; Oz falling from above; Oz with his back turned due to being embarrassed; Oz wielding a miniature version of his scythe as he stands on Gilbert's palms, who is trembling as he holds the tiny boy; and Oz taking a big bite out of a donut several times bigger than himself.
