The central character is Oz, standing in center-frame. He is dressed as he is by the end of the story, the all-black outfit along with a red Baskerville cloak hanging around his shoulders. Oz is in the middle of motion, wielding his scythe in his hands and swinging it behind his right shoulder, preparing to slash downwards. Countless chains colored red crisscross in the air behind him, summoned in place by his powers, the shadows of a pair of thick black chains surround him on either side, and tiny fragments of shattered lights float around like snow. Oz's eyes are a bright red. In the background behind him is the black-and-white silhouette of a black rabbit doll steadily disintegrating into ash.

The central character is Alice, standing in center-frame turned slightly towards the left. She is bathed in a bright red light and her left hand is up holding back her hair as it blows in the wind. Her expression is serious as she looks at something out of sight.
Special Edition Cover[]
The Special Edition's front cover features Lacie and Jack, standing together in center-frame. Lacie stands in front, head tilted slightly to the left as she wears a wistful expression. Her left hand is raised palm up by her side and her right hand tightly clutches a white rabbit doll. Jack stands behind her, his arms tightly looped around her shoulders in a binding embrace. Jack's expression is obscured behind Lacie's hair, but his left eye peeks out from behind her and is squinted sinisterly. Around them and behind them, a black haze rises up like ashes in the air.
The back cover features Levi and Oswald. Levi is sitting down, and under the shawl and casual clothes he wears, the majority of his body is covered completely in bandages. His expression is carefree and smug, eyes closed as he talks about something and raises a cup of tea to his lips. Oswald stands behind him holding the teapot, and his expression is exasperated and mildly irritated towards his master.
Alternative Cover[]
The back cover features younger versions of Break, Reim, and Sharon in chibi forms. Break, hair still long and bandages still wrapped around his left eye, stands in the middle with an irritated expression. To his right a child Reim is nagging and ranting at him, while to his left a child Sharon clings happily to his side. Falling all around them are pink roses and petals.

Trivia[]
- It is stated in this volume that the next one, Volume 23, would be the last of the series. However, contrary to Mochizuki's expectations, the series actually ended on Volume 24 instead. In later publications of the Japanese, Volume 22's next volume preview features the announcement of the next volume being the "final chapter" along with an addendum that the last is actually 24.
