Synopsis[]
The Red Rose Headquarters is under attack by many Victims and the members are trying to kill them all off. Shion, the newest member, is unable to shoot the monsters and is mocked by Claudia as she gets rid of the rest of the monsters. Shion looks up in shock and fear at Claudia's power, and Ruskin asks him if that was his first time watching her kill with her roses. Upon confirmation, Ruskin tells him that she is a mutation of the Black Roses, the 'perfect' Crimson Rose, and that it's their job to protect her. Claudia asks Ruskin who the boy is, losing interest once Ruskin mentions he's a new comer.
Ruskin mentions that it's the day that Claudia's beloved returns, right in time for Xeno to show up smashing through the wall, slaughtering another Victim. The team throws a small welcome party for Shion, during which Xeno leaves early, claiming (after some prodding) to have a report he needs to write about a secret mission, leading to his usual bickering with Claudia. After that, Shion teases her about her apparent crush on Xeno, prompting her to tell him about their past.
In Claudia's recollection, she mentions they met 2 years ago, when she used to be locked up in a room due to her uncontrollable powers. Xeno had been lost then, and had stumbled upon her room, and after that day he frequently came back to check on her. One day, Claudia tells him she doesn't want to leave her enclosure, angering Xeno, who tells her that she should leave and bloom proudly for everyone to see, instead of spending her entire life locked up. Surprised, Claudia loses control and hurts him, but she managed to stop before killing him, controlling her powers for the first time. Xeno then gave her a bracelet and made a promise that, if she was ever to be swallowed by darkness, he would be there to get rid of it, and vowed to always protect her.
After Claudia's reminiscing, Baines shows up looking for her, explaining that he thought that the earlier attack was suspicious since it was very unlikely for five enemies to break through their security system at the same time. He then reveals that there's an intruder in the organization, but before he can reveal what they're after, he's interrupted by a loud scream. Said scream came from Shion, who was in the library and was ambushed by Xeno. Claudia rushes to the scene and finds Shion bleeding on the floor, and he pleads her to run. However, she is too late and Xeno strikes her, and proceeds to attack the other people that had just came in too. Xeno then tells her that the only reason he took her out of that locked room was to have her under his supervision, and mentions that his mission was done, before telling her to rot within her own cursed fate and leaving.
In shock after of the broken promise, Claudia loses control of herself and attacks the Crimson Shell members in the room.
