Summary[]
Amelia brings a card to Vanitas about someone requesting to meet him. Going on the place, Vanitas sees its Jeanne and is surprised that she invites him to a date. Jeanne explains that the first time they met, she attacked first, but he didn't kill her. And later at the masquerade ball helped her save Luca. Since then she started thinking about him and realized she must had fallen in love for him. Vanitas then makes a despised face, which is exactly what Jeanne wanted.
Jeanne recalls talking with Dominique de Sade on how to make Vanitas hate her, as the more she rejects him, the more he cozies up to her. Dominique then recalls Noé mentioning that Vanitas told him that he have zero interest in sort of person who would love him. Dominique then suggests that Jeanne pretends she had fallen in love with him, which will make him lose interest in her. Determined, Jeanne decides to act in love with Vanitas.
Vanitas is shocked, but states that he accepts as he is intrigued in her sudden change of heart. Vanitas compliments her dress and Jeanne explains Dominique gave it to her and helped her dress, but Vanitas corrects himself saying that he meant she is lovely, not the dress, making Jeanne blush. Dante notices Vanitas and is surprised to see Jeanne with him. He ends up bumping into someone and realize its Dominique, who secretly observes Jeanne and Vanitas. Jeanne is then almost run over by a car, but Vanitas saves her and pats her on her head, causing her to blush again.
August Ruthven visits Noé in the hotel, while he still sleeps. As he wakes him up, they go down the restaurant to talk. Ruthven has many questions, but knows that Vanitas won't talk about himself.
Jeanne can't understand why her heart can't stop racing, even though she loathes Vanitas. Seeing how careful and carrying Vanitas is, she wonders where his selfishness and egotism went. Vanitas asks her where she wants to go and Jeanne explains she wants to see Paris. While it isn't her first time here, she is usually protecting Luca and can't enjoy the view. Vanitas then takes her around Paris, showing her various locations. Dominique and Dante are following them, but as it turns into a regular looking date, Dante is bored and wish to leave, but Dominique states he came this far off and needs to stay until the end.
Noé tells Ruthven that while he speaks with him, it reminds him of his teacher, like if he was attending class or simply enjoying it. Ruthven reveals that long ago he was a teacher of sorts. Many of his students adored him and gathered by his side. He wanted they join him and create a brighter future, but now they are all dead. If he had now students like Noé, he would have joyful days, but is concerned that someone could appear who would take advantage of his kindness. Noé guesses he means Vanitas, but states he won't do that and while he would use anyone, he can't stand seeing anyone getting hurt because of him. Noé was annoyed when Vanitas told him that humans and vampires are the same and that they are both selfish creatures, but at the same time felt his loneliness. Ruthven then wonders what Noé thinks of humans and vampires.
As Vanitas went to the toilet, Jeanne decides to practice what she will tell him. She starts saying that she enjoyed herself today and that she started to love him, but then feels quite embarrassed. In that moment Vanitas appears behind her and tells her he loves her too, shocking her. As Vanitas is enjoying it, Jeanne tells him he got the wrong impression and must look at her with contempt, like she is a maggot. He wonders what she means or if its her fetish. A kid then trips next to her and injures his leg. Seeing his blood, Jeanne loses herself and is about to attack him, but Vanitas puts his hand in her mouth and stops her. As other sees she is a vampire, Dante puts a smokescreen and help them escape.
Ruthven asks Noé if he is on vampires or humans side. Noé states neither, and that his enemies are those that try to harm anyone he hold dear or wish to protect. Simply being one of the two doesn't make them his enemy as he loves both equally. Ruthven then states he failed the test. Noé starts to feel unwell and can't stand properly. Ruthven then bites him on the neck and drinks his blood.
While Jeanne drinks Vanitas' blood, he asks her if she is a curse-bearer or if she has any other symptoms than just bloodlust. As she doesn't answer, he wonders if someone forbid her from saying. Jeanne recalls shadowy Ruthven. She tells Vanitas that she kept her promise and haven't sucked anyone else's blood. Vanitas decides to reward her and allows her to drink more of his blood. As she stops, Jeanne starts to cry, stating that she is loosing her sanity and is afraid she one day may attack Luca. Not knowing if she is a curse-bearer, Vanitas can't promise he will cure her, but promises he will kill her if it ever comes to that.
