Vanitas and his group see the same dragoons from yesterday, who are again looking for The Beast. Dante wonders what is going on, as they saw them yesterday getting killed. Vanitas realizes this is a time loop created by the curse-bearer. Jeanne decides to hurry and jumps in the air heading towards the castle, but Vanitas gets on her back. He asks her if she really wants to kill the curse-bearer, but Jeanne states she is bourreau and doesn't wish to cause any more troubles for Luca and Rutheven, and then tosses Vanitas towards the castle.
The castle shakes, but at the same time, Noé feels weak. Jean-Jacques then takes Noé to a room, saying that he needed to put him to sleep otherwise he could get in their way and he may had to kill him. He then cuts his arm, stating that he heard from Chloé that Noé isn't an ordinary vampire and can read memories. Wishing someone to remember then, Jean-Jacques forces Noé to drink his blood.
Noé then sees young Jean-Jacques being abused by his parents. While in the forest, he ends up seeing Chloé and guesses she is the Silver Witch, he heard stories about. As his eyes turn red, Chloé realizes he is a vampire and they are the same. At some point people started dying and witnesses state they saw large beast. Rumors spread that Marquis d'Apchier been doing uncanny research which created the Silver Witch and that the Beast is her pet or she herself. Jean-Jacques tries to tell everyone that its not Chloé and that she is trying to discover the Beast's true identity. The marquis and his son died from the Beast and marquis's wife took her own life. Chloé blames herself for all of this and Jean-Jacques comforts her, stating he will be always be her side. The Chasseurs and the Senate's bourreau were sent to kill the Beast. As they approach the castle, Jean-Jacques wishes to become stronger so that he can protect Chloé. Naenia then appears and turns him into the Beast.
Naenia then tells Chloé of what Jean-Jacques has done for her and Chloé heads out to help him. She manages to find Jean-Jacques and helps him. She encounters Jeanne and is happy to see her and accepts her death from her, but Jeanne is unable to do it. Chloé then jumps from a cliff, however as she falls Naenia convinces her to have revenge on the people of Gevaudan and turns her into curse-bearer.
Noé wakes up and leaves the room, but as he runs, he continues to have visions of Jean-Jacques. He sees that Jean-Jacques though the Beast doesn't even exist and people made him up, however as they won't stop until they kill the Beast, he decided to look like it. As the Beast, he met his father, who wanted to kill him to collect the prize of the Beast's head. Noé then runs into Vanitas and explains him the situation and that Chloé and Jean-Jacques haven't killed anyone. Vanitas then states its pointless to heal a curse-bearer who became one by its own will, however, Noé insists they try as he doesn't really know what is Chloé thinking. Having to get his book back, Vanitas agrees to continue. Outside, Jean-Jacques turns into the Beast and starts fighting with Jeanne.
Noé wonders who was responsible for the killings that the Beast was blamed for. Vanitas speculates that while the war between humans and vampires was over, he guesses that the Church was doing vampire hunting and decided to blame a wild beast devouring the bodies of those that were purged from the Church. Astolfo then appears and Noé decides to take him own, while Vanitas heads for Chloé.
Vanitas finds Chloé and introduces himself, stating he intends to save her, but wants his book back. Chloé wonders what book and after Vanitas explains, she states it should be around here and she was only interested in her due to the jewel inlaid on the cover, but as she failed to remove it, she just left it somewhere. Naenia then appears and states that Vanitas is an enemy. Chloé then leaves Neania to do what she wants with Vanitas, while she continues to activate the Alteration Engine. Vanitas wonders what she intends to rewrite and what revenge she is seeking. Chloé then states the analyse is complete. Naenia states that Chloé intends to erase the whole Gevaudan with everything in it. As she doesn't just intend to rewrite the World Formula, but erase part of it, Vanitas realizes there will be vast repercussions and tells her to not do it. As she activates it, Naenia starts to scream and takes bodily form. Chloé then states she spend a lot of time thinking on how to stop this nightmare and how to lay hands on incorporeal thing. Chloé then touches Naenia's face and states that she can kill her now.
