The Case Study of Vanitas 7 is the seventh volume of Jun Mochizuki's The Case Study of Vanitas.
Front Cover[]
The central characters are Chloé and Jean-Jacques, both wrapped up in one another's embraces. Chloé hugs Jean-Jacques's head to her chest and leans her cheek against the top of his hair, looking forward with a small smile. Jean-Jacques has on a similar smile, and tightly clutches at Chloé's arms encircling his head. His eyes are glowing red, his face is stained with blood, and his back and left shoulder are fading up and away into red ash. The both of them are bathed in an almost divine-looking light that shines down from above, a spotlight cast upon only the two of them. Behind them above where the light emanates is a circular portrait framing the sky in the middle of the gentle snowfall. The portrait is made up of a music box, rotating as it plays its song. Outlines of golden gears lay behind in the background.

Astolfo and Marco
Astolfo wanders around the Chasseurs' base looking for Marco. He asks his colleagues if they've seen Marco, to which he gets negative answers. He opens doors to every room he passes, looks under beds, calls out of a window, all while calling Marco's name. Sometime later, Marco runs up to Astolfo and apologizes for the delay, asking what he needed from him. Astolfo turns around to give Marco a confused, almost disgusted expression, and asks why he thought Astolfo needed him. Astolfo walks away. Marco stares at him, sweating.
Chloé and Jean-Jacques
After Chloé and Jean-Jacques first meet, Chloé secretly invites Jean-Jacques to the Château d'Apchier. Jean-Jacques marvels in amazement at the grand castle he beholds, as Chloé proudly beams beside him. Inside, Chloé offers to show Jean-Jacques her bedroom. Though flustered, Jean-Jacques excitedly thanks her and goes to peer in. The room is utterly trashed. The bedsheets are unmade and strewn about, books in stacks and left open and thrown haphazardly litter the floor, scribbled on and crumpled up and torn papers are everywhere. Jean-Jacques stares, frozen at the scene. It's a total mess and even he can't help but be put off by it. Later on, Jean-Jacques would go on to keep the place tidy and neat for Chloé as a result.
"Romance is a ✰LOVE MISSION" by "Dyun Mochizuki" is a parody of The Case Study of Vanitas, wherein the characters are placed in the setting and roles of a stereotypical shōjo manga. While their respective races of human and Vampire remain, the characters are placed in a Japanese high school setting, given Japanese surnames, and are relegated into roles reflecting the standard tropes found in modern shōjo manga. The story is about "a guy in girl's clothes and a girl in guy's clothes in nonstop secret love." It is apparently highly acclaimed by Mochizuki's editor.
The main characters of the omake are Vanitas and Jeanne, renamed to Vanitas Suzuki and Jeanne Sasaki. Vanitas is an agent of the espionage organization known as Blue Moon, and thus has infiltrated Zuttomo Private Academy under the cover of a third year high school student—and a girl. He sleeps in on his first day as a transfer student and while rushing to class, runs into a guy eating a piece of toast—Jeanne, masquerading as a guy. Jeanne drinks Vanitas's blood and demands he be her "property (food)." After that disastrous first meeting, an accident results in each of their respective secrets being exposed to one another, and so they have to cooperate to keep their true genders a secret.
The chart of characters and their relationships is as follows. "Vanitas Suzuki" is the protagonist who infiltrates the Academy's girls' dorm to investigate a secret, rumored to be that the Vampire Queen is hidden somewhere within. He's tired and just wants to go home. Jeanne Sasaki attends school as a boy in order to be able to follow around Luca at all hours and protect him no matter what. She gets advice on how to act like a man from Dominique, and is in particular fond of Vanitas's blood. Noé Yamada is the class president and wears glasses to help with his poor vision. He makes sure to be attentive to the new transfer student Vanitas, and aspires to make 100 friends by the end of the year. Dominique Saionji is known as the "prince" of the school. In response to Jeanne's questions on how to act like a man, she gave a bunch of shōjo manga, resulting in the way Jeanne currently acts, so she feels responsible for the whole mess. Luca Hououji is a child genius who advanced all the way to high school after skipping several grades, and is decorated enough to be the student council president. He's happy to be attending school alongside Jeanne, but is much less happy regarding Vanitas.
Astolfo Shiratori is a "pampered rich kid" and part of the school's disciplinary committee. He aspires to become student council president himself and thus aims to dethrone Luca, and he wants to expel Vanitas due to his suspicions against the other. Roland Tanaka is the Health and P.E. teacher, as well as Vanitas's homeroom teacher. He has a loud voice, and seems to know about Vanitas's secret. Olivier is the World History teacher and is popular with the female students (and Roland). The school's principal is Ruthven, and the director is the Teacher. Johann Kobayashi is the infirmary doctor and is fond of "cute" male students. Riche and Amelia can often be seen in the corners of panels, offering helpful commentary and explanations. Dante Ito is Vanitas's fellow agent who tried to infiltrate the Academy as well. He got found out on the first day and was immediately expelled.
