~Mina and the Prince~
Mina introduces herself as the nicest, most hardworking, and most vitally the cutest girl in the village she lives in. She then introduces the other children of the village: Fred who likes her, Gilles who likes her, Fanny Gilles's little sister who is less cute than Mina, and even a boy named Pierre whom she decides not to elaborate on. She reminisces that their small group were playing in the woods as they always did when they met their new friends. Noé and Dominique were completely blurred out in Mina's vision, practically nonexistent to her, as she instantly honed in on Louis. The one she calls her "destined Prince." Mina blushing in excitement realizes that if he lives in such a grand castle in the humble region of Averoigne he must be the son of a lord. And if Mina marries him she can become a princess of the aristocracy. With this in mind, Mina spends the next few days cozying up to Louis and attempting to charm him to fulfill her fantasy, all the while an oblivious Noé and the rest of their friends played in the background. One day Louis decides to do something about this.
Voice colder than freezing ice, Louis glares at Mina with utter contempt as he tells her to stop staring at him with such disgusting eyes. And even more coldly, he says matter-of-factly that he lets her and her friends play with them for Noé and Dominique's sake but could not care less for them himself. Mina goes pale and instantly loses her spirit. Later she curses Louis out in her head, especially angered at being called "disgusting" by him. She scorns him for supposedly acting superior as an aristocrat's child and writes him off entirely for his personality. To her boys are—only their best when they are nice. Mina changes targets in an instant to Noé instead, rationalizing in her mind about his strengths and weaknesses, his younger age but cute looks, his airheaded demeanor but acts nicer than Louis. Mina tries flirting with him but Noé remains oblivious. Watching on, Louis warns Dominique to not let Mina win.
~How These Two Get Angry~
Amelia's observation on the temperament of Vanitas and Noé. Noé she marks down as quick to get boiled up in frustration but just as quick to cool down and calm in the next immediate second. Noé dislikes holding onto negative emotions and unloading his anger is refreshing to him. As seen in their frequent bickering, Noé and Vanitas will be engaged in a heated argument, but immediately after Noé vents out all his frustrations he calms back down and is instantly in a good mood, while Vanitas is still stuck with his own anger. On that note, Vanitas has a habit of holding onto grudges. He won't forget a single detail of what he hears and sees that he doesn't like, and Amelia will often host for him a small meal and drink in Hôtel Chouchou's dining room as he rants endlessly about Noé. The two of them are so unlike each other and seem to not fit well most of the time, yet the sight of them together always makes Amelia smile. Vanitas bursts into the Hôtel steaming from anger and asks Amelia for another coffee before diving directly into a new slew of complaints about Noé, while Noé himself just behind calmly asks what he's so angry for. Happily Amelia confirms and invites them in.
~A New Feeling~
Noé and Dante are having a conversation. While Dante eats a piece of candy, Noé asks him a series of questions, that Vanitas is eighteen and Noé is nineteen, which Dante affirms. Noé then moves on to this conclusion: he is the "onii-san" of the two of them. This is where he loses Dante. Noé, taking a proffered piece of candy from Dante, explains that in his childhood he was always the youngest and though his friends were are close to his age he was still treated as a child by them. Dante thinks of Noé's general demeanor and thinks to himself that it makes sense. Noé eats the candy and remarks how refreshing a feeling it is to interact with Vanitas who also so directly clashes with his every opinion with no sugarcoating. Dante is baffled that he doesn't view it as fighting. Noé thoughtfully reflects and mutters that he has quite a bit of fun when with Vanitas. Dante blinks in surprise then smiles warmly and replies that to be a good thing.
