Summary[]
Jeanne finds wounded and freezing Vanitas and realizes he was poisoned by Astolfo's attack before that. Vanitas tells her that the poison is take care and tells Jeanne to leave him, as she is after the Beast, but Jeanne refuses to leave. She takes him to a nearby cabin and lights the fire to warm him up. She asks Vanitas to take off his clothes as they are damp from the snow. Embarrassed, Vanitas refuses and tries to embarrass Jeanne, guessing she wants to warm his body with hers, however to his surprise, Jeanne confirms stating that his life is on the line. As Vanitas agrees, Jeanne helps him take off his clothes and they share a blanked in front of the fire.
Vanitas asks Jeanne who is Chloé and if she knows who the Beast is. Jeanne explains that her parents were Ruthven's students and when she was young, they would travel a lot. Once she was left in the care of Marquis d'Apchier and there she met a vampire hidden by the Marquis, Chloé D'Apchier. Even though Chloé looks young, she had lived longer than Ruthven and taught Jeanne many things, including lessons and games. Next time she met her, Jeanne was a bourreau sent to slay her, as Chloé was now known as the Beast. Jeanne hesitated that time and didn't kill her, but now she had made up her mind to kill her. Vanitas realizes that she doesn't hate the Beast. Realizing that Vanitas has a fever, Jeanne goes to take some water. Vanitas tells her its her best chance to kill him as he wants to save the Beast, while she wants to kill it. Jeanne refuses to kill him, especially after he risked her life for her and gives him water mouth to mouth and telling him to rest.
In the morning, Jeanne wakes up to see Vanitas outside talking to Johann. She gets relieved that he is fine, but then recalls all that happened last night and gets embarrassed. He justifies her actions to make herself feel better, but then comments that seeing Vanitas in such vulnerable state and no arrogance, made him look adorable, which causes her to get embarrassed again. Jeanne then hypes herself that now things will change and goes out to greet Vanitas, but he meets her with his usual arrogance, making her realize nothing had changed. Dante shows up and Johann gets really happy to see him again. Dante tells them that Noé was taken, likely by the Silver Witch. Dante witnessed how Chloé took Vanitas' book and Noé, but as she felt his presence, he couldn't follow them.
In a cave, Astolfo is warming himself up. Marco, a Chasseur working under Astolfo, finds him and is happy to see him. Astolfo then leaves, making Marco wonder where he is going. Astolfo reminds him why they came here in the first place and heads towards the witch's castle.
Before leaving for the castle, Vanitas points his knifes at Dante and Johann and tells him to tell him what he hides from him, and asks why is Dante, the vampires and the Church after the Beast. Jeanne comments that the Beast is curse-bearer and that's why Ruthven wants it dead, but Vanitas believes there is more to it. Dante agrees to talk and Vanitas asks Jeanne to take them to Chloé's castle.
Noé wakes up and realizes that someone is sucking his blood. He pushes Chloé aside and tells her that its not allowed to suck someone's blood without permission. However, Chloé wants more and pushes Noé to suck more of his blood, who feels weakened and unable to resist. But before being able to, Chloé is picked up by Jean-Jacques Chastel, who tells her that its wrong to suck blood of those who are unwilling, but then corrects himself that its wrong to suck blood of any man than him. As he feels jealous, he really wish to strangle to death Noé. Chloé states that Jean-Jacques states the most adorable things when he is jealous. He asks her whose blood was better and she confirms its his. Jean-Jacques gives Noé's clothes and tells him to come down when he dresses up. Recalling their names, Noé realizes that Chloé is the Beast according to Jeanne.
As Noé gets down, he sees Chloé and Jean-Jacques sitting on a table with automated instruments. Noé wonders how they know his name. Naenia then appears behind Chloé, with Chloé stating she heard his name from her.
