Summary[]
Naenia asking Noé about his price
Seeing Naenia, Noé tells her to get away from Chloé. Chloé says she didn't know Naenia's name, and invites Noé to the dinning table. Noé questions Chloé if she is the Beast, and if so, he wonders why Naenia is sitting on the same table with her, considering Naenia robbed her true name. Chloé states it was the price of her wish and she became curse-bearer of her own free will. Naenia explains that there are names she really wants, but she can't take by force, like those of powerful vampires such as Chloé, so she offers to grant them a wish in exchange for their name. Naenia tried taking Noé's name too, but failed to obtain his true name, and wonders what is the price for it. Recalling Louis, Noé gets angry and yells at Naenia to return Louis to Dominique and him, and to stop stealing true names. He attacks Naenia, but isn't able to do anything. He ends up ruining the dinning table, which angers Chloé, who knocks him down, telling him she doesn't care for children who waste food.
Noé wanting to shake Jean-Jacques hand
Noé awakens with Jean-Jacques by his side, who tells him that Chloé gets scary when she is mad. Noé apologizes for his behaviour, and as his stomach growls, Jean-Jacques gives him some of the leftovers. Noé ends up liking the food and compliments Jean-Jacques, stating that he is extraordinary in everything he does, and that Noé himself can't cook or sew. Noé thanks him for saving Murr and him, and re-introduces himself wanting to give Jean-Jacques a handshake, which embarrasses Jean-Jacques as no one ever wanted to shake his hand before.
Dante reveals he works for Marquis Machina
Dante tells Vanitas that d'Apchier family were conducting research on the World Formula, they produced Alteration Engine, a device for altering the World Formula. Vanitas realizes that's why humans and vampires are interested in this case and asks Dante how he knows this and for who he works. Dante reveals its for Sir Francis Varney, also known as the Clockwork Fiend Marquis Machina. He takes Dante to get Vanitas involved and to also see if the Alteration Engine exists, and if possible to bring it back.
Jean-Jacques shows the family portraits of the d'Apchier family, revealing that they all died long ago and that Chloé has always been here, long before the Beast showed up and was watching over each generation of d'Apchier family. He asks Noé why are they here and if they wish to harm Chloé. Noé states that his enemy is Naenia and his partner may be able to restore Chloé's true name. Jean-Jacques reveals that Chloé have been crying each single day before Naenia appeared, while he couldn't do anything for her. As it was Chloé's wish to lose her true name, and it keeps her from weeping, he will make peace with it.
Ruthven wants to make a brighter future
Chloé recalls her past and how one day she woke up to be a vampire. She believes it was due to Babel rendering the World Formula unstable, which had effect on the world. Her father hid her, telling her that no one must know that she is a vampire. She stopped aging after 11 and people where told she fell ill and died. Her father called researchers from everywhere to study the World Formula in attempt to make her human again. His wish to make her human remained even after his death as it became the House of d'Apchier ardent wish. For generations she watched over d'Apchier family. She eventually met another vampire, August Ruthven. Chloé showed him her family study over the World Formula and explained that a key element is what to use as the medium for tampering with the formula and in d'Apchier case, its sound.
Ruthven believed they could be fine friends and if the World Formula Alteration Device works, they could make the world's future bright. As Chloé didn't know anything about the outside world, Ruthven told her that human Church and vampires are at war and many, even innocent humans die by the hands of the Church. Ruthven is fond of both vampires and humans and seeks a way to end all struggle at all costs. Ruthven eventually left and later returned, placing Jeanne under Chloé's care. She grew to like her and left the castle for the first time because of her. Eventually Ruthven took Jeanne back to her family and Chloé never saw her again. One day Ruthven came injured, stating he was wrong and asks Chloé to give him her family research to settle things. As Chloé refuses, he grabs her and drinks her blood, trying to put a spell on her and making her swear she will use her research as he commands. However, Chloé resisted the spell and pushed him away and lost her first friend forever.
She later received a letter from Ruthven's friend Machina, who told her the human and vampire war is over and the main architect of the peace was Ruthven. Chloé then continued her research decade after decade, eventually she wondered why she is doing it and Naenia appeared, knowing she is lonely and telling her that if she didn't knew the outside world, she wouldn't have known how lonely she is. Naenia then shows her a vision of Chloé turning to beast and killing Jeanne, as Chloé wakes up, he overhears men talking about a girl named Jeanne, who was devoured by some kind of beast.
Chloé activates a device, stating her wish will finally be granted.
