The World Formula (
Centuries ago, the great alchemist Paracelsus discovered the World Formula and attempted to interfere with it, believing doing so would solve all of humanity's problems—only to set into motion the Babel Incident. This would fundamentally disturb the structure of the universe from then on. From this massive rewriting of the World Formula, entirely new existences came into being whose presences heavily impact the story. Vampires came into being, Astermite which went on to be a new source of energy for the world at large was created, and avenues for interfering further with the World Formula opened up.

The World Formula was said to be a formula that provided structure for everything in existence. A human alchemist by the name of Paracelsus ultimately came up with the World Formula Theory (「
Magic[]
By altering the World Formula, Vampires are capable of producing magic in various forms.
- Strength Enhancement: A staple of all Vampires is the ability to alter The World Formula in order to produce an inhuman enhancement of their strength, commonly used in combat.
- Pyrokinesis: The ability to naturally produce and control black flames, thus far this type of magic has only been produced by August Ruthven and Luca Oriflamme.
- Cryokinesis: The ability to naturally produce and control ice, thus far this type of magic has only been produced by Veronica and Dominique de Sade.
- Gravitokinesis: The ability to naturally control gravity, allowing one to walk on any surface, thus far this type of magic has only been produced by The Teacher and Noé Archiviste.
The Book of Vanitas[]

The The Book of Vanitas was created by Vanitas of the Blue Moon in order to enact a personal vendetta against the Vampires of the Crimson Moon. It grants its user the ability to alter the World Formula, being capable of manipulating the True Names of Vampires — creating or curing the Malnomen — and other abilities such as paralysis and Astermite manipulation.

The World Formula Alteration Device.
In order to restore Chloé d'Apchier's humanity, the Marquis d'Apchier scraped together anything he could find from Paracelsus' research on the World Formula, gathering alchemists and magicians, to build a device that could alter the World Formula. After decades of research, Chloé finally was able to complete the World Formula Alteration Device. The Device is powered by a special kind of Astermite, with higher purity and great power, known as "Blue Tear Stone" or "Divine Tear Stone".

- Members of the Archiviste Clan are capable of looking through an individual's memories simply by drinking their blood; however, as Archivistes can be forced to relive memories involuntarily, this may not be a form of magic produced by altering the World Formula.
